Family Fun Day @ Rowheath Pavillion

26th August 2013

IMG_2829Looking for something to do on a lazy Bank Holiday Monday morning I came across some information on twitter about the ‘Fun Day’ at Rowheath Pavillion, incorporating The Bournville Farmer’s Market, as well as some vintage and craft stalls and plenty of fun activities for children. I’d heard of the Bournville Farmer’s Market for a while, but never managed to drag my self from North to South Birmingham on the right day before! (They are at Rowheath on the 3rd Sat of every months so check it out!)

Being a couple all about the food (obviously) and hubby being always hungry (well it was 11am and his breakfast was at 930am) we headed for a food stall! We bypassed a few lovely smelling places serving bacon and pork rolls, burgers and hot dogs because I had spied the Jabberwocky van. I’ve heard such good things about their toasties but had yet to try more than the morsel I had at the Future Foodies event back in May. There were various flavours from the expected to the unexpected, and even a sweet one. We went for the Beef, Stilton and piccalilli, and it was fabulous.

Moving on we had a mooch around the craft stalls and down to the lake at the bottom of the grounds. I wanted to feed the ducks – someone didn’t let me…

Before leaving we picked up a few things from some of the great food stall holders including some fresh fruit and veg, delectable looking chocolate from Kneals and some exceptional tasting hot sauces from Pip’s Hot Sauce.

A lovely morning out and I’ll definitely be making that trip over the North South divide to Bournville again.
