Birmingham International Food Fair

28th August 2013

UnknownBirmingham’s popular annual International Food Fair returned to the city centre from 14th -26th of this month and there were around 140 stalls of mouth watering food and drink from around the world to sample. Visitors had the opportunity to try out the different specialities and flavours from countrIMG_2844IMG_2839ies including France, Germany, Poland, Holland, Italy and Spain as well as further afield such as Australia and the Far East.

The food ranged from exotic dry fruits from Iran, breads and pastries from Austria, a typical Australian barbeque, Thai noodles, fine French bread, cheeses and wine and many many more!

The Midlands was also represented with traditional produce and local drinks and food from local restaurants including award winning local cheeses, ostrich burgers and traditional pork scratchings.

We visited on the last day, bank holiday monday and Victoria Square was heaving with people enjoying the last bits of the summer sunshine and soaking up the atmosphere whilst having some great food and drink.

There was music blasting out from speakers and there was a real party atmosphere. We had a good wander around, seeing what was on offer. In the end we decided to sample an ostrich burger which was juicy and delicious, as well as some Thai Vegetable noodles and finished off with an amazing traditional French Crepe with luscious white chocolate, all washed down with a couple of pints of cider – we tried ‘Old Rosie’ and ‘Rosie Pig’

We really enjoyed our couple of hours at the Food Fair, and it’s definitely a great event on Birmingham’s Social Calendar, long may it continue.
