Stratford Food Festival Preview

6th September 2013

UnknownNext weekend (14-15th September) the 8th annual Stratford Food Festival takes place at Stratford Racecourse. I’ve not been before and am really looking forward to it.

This year they have great headline chefs in Paul Hollywood (everyone’s favourite crush of the moment!) and Sophie Michell. Paul, star of the current British phenomenon that is Great Britsh Bake Off will be there on the Sunday, doing both demonstrations and book signings, while Sophie, co-presenter of C4’s Cook Yourself Thin will be there on the Saturday.

There’s so much stuff to do you will be spoilt for choice; Interactive workshops, the cookery theatre, book signings, the talk and taste theatre, childrens activities and exhibitors galore.

This year comprises of some great local exhbitors alongside those from across the country. The One Elm, part of the Peach Pub Family is one of the prime exhibitors, bringing along food, drink and a great atmosphere. Some other ‘locals’ to look out for are;

  • Aubrey Allen – Award-winning butcher and restaurant supplier
  • Bijibis – makers of great curry sauces, chutneys and more. ( I have tried a few of their products and they’re great!)
  • Daisy Blue Bakehouse – from Stratford itself with delicious cakes, fudge and pastries
  • Heart of England farms – who will be taking those Xmas Turkey orders!

As well as great local producers, there will be some carefully picked gems from across the country bringing you fine food and drink to sample and to take home.

Tickets on the gate are £6 for adults, with free entry for under 16’s, free racecourse parking and a town centre shuttle bus. It looks to be a great day out for all the family so come along and join the fun!
