Eating Out West Midlands

Review: The Bell at Belbroughton

7th December 2016

A few weeks back I brought you the news that a much loved pub in Belbroughton was undergoing a big makeover. Well a couple of weeks ago we popped over to try the newly refurbished menu and g=have a look for ourselves.

The pub is full of little alcoves and nooks and we were seated in a cosy little area with just three tables giving us plenty of room for the pram. The pub wasn’t too busy when wearied but soon packed out with other diners hungry for their Sunday lunch.

The menu was huge with a full list roasts and many other things so I’m pretty sure everyone would fund something they wanted on the menu.

I started with an Orchard pig cider and Lee one of their cask ales, and we nibbled on some complimentary chips whilst looking through the menu.

To start I opted for the Black Angus Bresaola with candied walnuts, thyme goat’s curd, watercress and lemon oil dressing. I loved the goats curd and the crunch and sweetness the walnuts gave a really well balanced starter. Lee chose the Chicken liver, sherry & balsamic parfait which he also found a good start; a smooth parfait with sweet chutney and generous portion too.

 while I went for

Roast Lamb Rump with roasted squash and lemon & thyme stuffing wrapped in bacon

Both were presented well with a huge Yorkshire Pud and veg to share. The beef and were cooked really well with the beef met in the mouth pink and tender. Honey roast carrots were soft and sweet and savoy cabbage still green and with a bit if bite. All in all a very decent Sunday Roast!

We were far too stuffed for dessert, but options included Sour Cherry & Nut Florentine with British blackcurrant curd and Bourbon vanilla ice cream and Bramley Apple & Blackberry Shortbread Crumble.

Service all the way through was timely and very friendly and we really enjoyed our visit.

Baby friendly? Lots for prams and spacious disabled loo with modern changing facilities.

Post in collaboration with The Bell. All opinions our own.
