Over the years we’ve been to Bistrot Pierre several times, and recently a new one has opened up really near to us in the new Mulberry Walk development in Mere Green and last week they very kindly invited us down to try a few dishes from their new Summer Menu to see what we thought.
The new menu has some fantastic french style dishes including Cassolette de moules and Loup de mer which all sound lovely and light, perfect for a spring or summers day.
We tried one of the new new starters – the Soupe de poisson – Fish and shellfish soup with white wine, basil, rouille and baked croûtons £5.95 which Lee thought had a lovely deep flavour too it, while I tried one of this months Chef Specialities Carpaccio de Boeuf – Seared beef Carpaccio, Comté cheese, rocket and herb and caper dressing. This was a brilliant starter – the beef was beautiful and tender and I loved the light dressing, I could eat a huge portion of this!
For my main course I went for another new dish – not traditionally french but really yummy none the less, a Salade de canard – Vietnamese crispy duck salad with soy, chilli, ginger, coriander and sesame seeds £13.50 which you can also have in starter size too. I was impressed with the amount of duck in the dish and the flavours were lovely and fresh.
Lee had the Poulet printanier – Pan-fried chicken breast with asparagus, fricassée of wild mushrooms, peas, truffle oil and tarragon £13.95. Flavour wise he thought this was spot on although I think it might have been under the heat lamps a bit too long as the peas hadn’t kept their vibrant green colour
There’s also a couple of new desserts to choose from, the Sundae au chocolat et cerise or the Mousse au chocolat £5.50 which I tried. It was very light and not too rich which I enjoyed. There’s also their classic desserts including a traditional Tarte au citron 5.95 which really hit the spot too.
