Not so long ago, I posted on here about our recent relatively average meal at the newly opened Bodega in Sutton Coldfield and someone popped up on twitter to see if I’d been to Los Banditos in Boldmere, which he recommended. Turned out, I hadn’t, so that very night, this was to be rectified! And what a good decision this was.
The interior is quite small but i loved the funky decor inside. The tables were even topped with bottles of Pips Hot Sauce, which also boded very very well!!
We were dining early with Imogen in tow, and the stafff I must say were fantastic with her, even offering her the use of their iPad!
The menu sounded yummy, and I could have chosen many things to try. I settled on the Coconut Shrimp to start, served with homemade hot sauce which knocked my socks off!
Lee went for the Crispy Cauliflower with a lime and sour cream dressing. These were maybe a touch on the greasey side, but the flavours were bold and enjoyable.
Whilst we nibbled these, Imogen was making inroads into a Cheesy Quesadilla with peppers and sweetcorn. True to fussy toddler fashion, she picked out all the green peppers, but made good work of the rest. The kids menu here is great, with plenty of options and not just the standard fish fingers and chips!
The Spicy Chicken, Mango and Jalepeno Salad really caught my eyes on the main course section, and it was so fresh and delicious, and packed full of ingredients including generous portions of avocado and mango as well as little crispy sweet potato matchsticks. I would have like a bit more of the jalepenos and spice, but a drizzle of Pips sauce sorted out that issue.
Lee went traditional with a Spicy Beef Burrito, which was huge and he enjoyed very much.
We also sipped our way through a couple of lovely cocktails from their list but unfortunately didn’t have room to try the churros!
Family friendly? Yes – the staff were fab with Imogen, there’s a great menu and decent facilities too.
Excitingly, not long after our successful visit here, I got wind that they are opening another site very very soon over in Lichfield, which is a regular food haunt of ours and even closer to home, so we are pretty happy at this propesct and the discovery of Los Banditos in general!
